now dats where i had my dinner for todae...
for the first time in my god damn life... i ate fresh raw oysters...
bluek!
dats the experience for my first bite on that exotic seafood...
the tabasco sauce which i added after dat helps a lot thou...
now here's some lil unknown facts bout the stuff i ate todae..
Oysters - Male or Female??
there is no way we can judge their sex by looking at their shells... but like other animals.. they do have their own sexes... and surprisingly, they can actually change sex more than one time in their life span... damn!! they are better than transvestite! but who cares actually bout their sexes... most of the time we just eat it and not bother at all...
What is that tiny crab we see in an oyster?
a species of crab (Pinnotheres ostreum) that has evolved to live harmoniously inside an oyster's shell.... now dats its interesting how they evolved... the wonders of god...
How do pearls end up inside of oysters?
these pearls are produced when foreign material are stucked in their shell.... oysters responds to the irritation by producing nacre which is a combination of calcium and protein... this nacre coats the foreign material and over time produces a pearl.... and after which used by mankind as a jewellery accessories... a waste product produced by oysters... how interesting since i got to know bout this..
The "R" Myth
ppl back then says that oysters should be eaten only in months with "r" in them... so months from september to april would be perfectly fine.. the rational to this is dat months that occur during warm weather may have started in the days when oysters where shipped without adequate refrigeration and could spoil.... but with the technology man has developed over years.. we can enjoy oysters any time of the year!
Oysters and Their Nutritional Value
Oysters are known to be delicious... ermmm.. yeah rite.. i cant actually agree on that...
they're also one of the most nutritionally well balanced of foods, containing protein, carbohydrates and lipids.... The National Heart and Lung Institute suggest oysters as an ideal food for inclusion in low-cholesterol diets.... four or five medium size oysters supply the recommended daily allowance of iron, copper, iodine, magnesium, calcium, zinc, manganese and phosphorus....
now dats crazy... i have a bit of difficulty eating just one!
Health Tip
Because raw foods including oysters may carry bacteria, persons with chronic liver disease, impaired immune systems or cancer should avoid eating raw oysters.
Hear Say
